Lemons...

Sharilyn made us yummy pancakes with lemon sauce on them on morning.  In order to do that, she needed lemons though, so we went out to the back yard and picked some!

We also learned that lemon trees have thorns, so Sharilyn let them pick the one they wanted to pick, and then she clipped them off with the pruning shears.  It was a fun thing to do, even with jammies and bed-head!
She also has an orange tree. She said they didnt taste too good, but they looked pretty!

Birds and the Bay

Sharilyn knew of a place at the bay with walkways and lots of birds.  Shelby really likes birds, and we thought it would be a nice place to get rid of some energy!  We had a really nice time, and saw lots of neat things.  When we first got there, we saw these 2 flocks of birds floating in the water.  We had to laugh because they had segregated themselves. Even when they flew off, they stayed separate.  Brown vs. white!
Shelby took about a gazillion pictures of the birds. I had to get one of her doing it!  Here she is taking a picture of the pelicans.  I took a couple of them too. They were so pretty, and so big!

We watched this humming bird for a long time. He let us get really close to him.  I took this picture without using the zoom!  He even sang for us.
My two favorite chickadees!

Only in CA!

As we were driving one day, I looked up and saw the most strange looking "car".  It went past us and I said to Sharilyn "Catch that car!" so we made a quick left and then we were able to get close enough for a picture, I snapped a couple through the windshield and then another one out the window.  It was very odd to see the space ship type thing driving down the road.

California Redwoods

We found some nice soft green moss and so Sharilyn tied it around Shelby's pony tail.  It was cute.  We asked the kids what they wanted to do before we left CA and Shelby said she wanted to see the Redwoods again, so we went on Friday. It was our most packed in day, but we got to see lots, and make lots of new memories.

Tree Climbing fun

Colesy LOVED climbing in Sharilyns olive tree in the front yard.  After all, her first sentence was "I'm a monkey!"

She came in and asked Sharilyn for a blanket to use in the tree.  When we looked out the next time, she had it draped over a branch and was laying on it with a pillow.  I thought she looked more like a panther...

That is all for now.  Nelson can now get off my back!  More to come later.............  :)

The Toothless Bloody-Mouth Monster

Colesy was messing with her loose tooth tonight while brushing them and she heard a *crack* and thought maybe it was now loose enough to have Daddy pull it out.  (She's had him try about every night the past week.)
She wasnt sure she wanted the even captured with the camera - that is what the face in the first photo is all about!
Sure enough, Dentist Dad was able to pull it right out!
It was bloody - hence the nick-name Shelby gave her.
She is lucky to have her bottom middle two teeth or she would really have trouble eating!

Icicles

This one was taken at night. It was so pretty with the light making them sparkle.
I hate the cold and I hate snow, but I think icicles are on of the most beautiful things.  These are pictures of the icicles hanging off our front porch.  In fact, they are right over the stairs.  We laughed that we were about to be in jail! There was one that went clear down to the stair rail, and then from there down to the step.

Yesterday was the first day in a really long winter that it got above freezing. in fact, we had 40.5*! It felt so warm! Sad, I know.....   Anyhow. the icicles melted a LOT!  We are no longer prisoners on the porch!

No school - Again!

There is only so many snow days you can have and have them be fun.  This last one we had, the girls dragged the blocks out.  One of their favorite things to do it build something like the orange on by the stool and then run around and jump over it and build it higher and see how high it can get before they cant jump over it anymore.  Colesy must have FINALLY tired of that, because when I looked again, she was building the tallest tower.
Shelby helped, but she made frequent stops at the heater to warm herself!

Presents from Gramsy Lewis

Mom sent the girls little Valentines Day shirts. She wrapped them in comics.  That was the best part of the present! They have read and reread and rereread them.  I'm not sure where the shirts are. I'm sure when the comics wear out, they will find them and be thrilled with them.
But until then.....
If you are looking for a cheap gift for my girls, comics seem to be the way to their hearts!

Colesy

The girls got up early this morning, and decided to play with their Barbie's.  Gramsy Lewis had gotten them a whole box-full of Barbie stuff at a yard sale, and they have all of it strewn across the living room.
I overheard Colesy making her girl talk, saying:
"I'm not sad or angry.  I'm completely happy. I got a new dress!

Made me smile.  my little oxymoron girl!
