Geography Bee

Well,
Pastor Mark thought it would be a great idea for our school to host the Geography Bee this year. Sure.
So, I over organized and was ready to smoke this event, when all my plans got shot down because of a snow storm. All schools had no school the day the even was scheduled for. I was frustrated.
So, I put everything away and we rescheduled for one month later.
I pulled everything back out and contacted the schools who were planning to come a week and a half before the second date. One of the schools was now unable to bring over half the helpers, plus, about 5 of their students were unable to come as well.
I scrambled around and reworked all the helper assignments and was able to make it work - just barely.
The morning of the Bee (yesterday!) the school bringing the most students, and the most helpers pulled out. So, the girls and I headed for school with a lot on my mind! We got there early, and I began trying to figure out what to do now.....
I'm quite pleased to say that we pulled the day off beautifully. It wen t really smooth, all the schools that came were relaxed and friendly and helpful. (and willing to make last minute adjustments.....)
PAstor Matt opened the day with an amazing praise team. He really set the tone for the day. Upbeat and fun. I was so proud of our school!!!
All DCS staff stepped it up a notch and just did a great job.
And, our students did an exceptional job! DCS took 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 6th in the final round! Pastor Mark was very happy with that! :)
And my Shelbaloo did the best out of the 5th grade.
And she had fun!

We got 100% positive feedback from all the helpers and the schools that did come.

I was exhausted, but oh so happy and proud of ourselves!

A HUGE thanks to Becky for having my back throughout this whole time, and to Pastor Kenny for co-chairing this event with me. We Rocked! :)

Winter Jam!!!!!

We had the opportunity to go to Winter Jam this year! We took the girls (their first "real" concert). We had a BLAST! and the bands were amazing!

Newsboys were the final act, and they were beyond AWESOME!!!

Shelby took the pictures. Mostly, we were too excited to use it though!

RED was there too. Not my style of music, but, they had FIRE! It was so cool!

There were a ton of different bands: Chris Sligh, Chris August, David Crowder Band, RED, Franny B, KJ52, New Song, Newsboys!!!!! Oh, it was amazing!

Our friend Amanda went with us as well. The 3 of them had an excellent time! (and we did too, though in the background of this picture, you really cant tell!)

Pocahontas

Shelby had to do a book report poster on Pocahontas and so the girls were playing Indian the other day. Indians must have a fire, so this is what they built.
:)

Colesy in the kitchen.....

She was helping me chop in the kitchen the other day while we were making soup. I gave her the onions to chop. She was having troubles with it - her eyes were watering a lot..... This was her solution to the problem. Hysterical! :)

We all got the sickies....

This is where Shelby spent the DAY while her friend was over to play....
And this is where she spent the NIGHT, while her friend slept in her bed.....

Even Damien was down for a few days when his Lymes was acting up.

And this is how Colesy spent 2 days this week.
Matt had it too, but there is no photo documentation to depict how horrible he felt! :)

Silly icicle

So, after I got to school today, I had to run out and do an errand. When I got back to school, I found this icicle. It had come from my car, and was stuck like a little cold, bare tree. You can best see it from where the shadow is.

It made me smile. Just sticking up through the snow all alone all day long.

okay,

I really am sick of snow, and I dont like it at all. But, the snow from last night was really pretty.
I took these pictures through the windshield on the way to school this morning.

misc pictures from the past few days....

This was the girls "seat" for the Superbowl. Can't quite see it, but there is a fire crackling along, keeping us nice and toasty! :)

This is how mirrors help you be quiet during church. :) I keep several in my purse...

The girls built a SUPER tall lego tower the other day. We supported it by tying it to the banister in a couple of places.

Yep, we got us some FREAKS in this house!!

Birthday Dinner

Colesy put every candle she could find on the table! It was certainly a romantic setting for Daddy's birthday! HA HA!!
We did a roaster chicken (Colesy named him Roy) and stuffing for dinner. It was super yummy, and we were super hungry. Roy was a great meal. RIP Roy!

Matts Birthday

Here he comes!Blowing out his candles...
With the chefs and designers of the birthday cake...
Inspired by Cake Boss, the girls wanted to (last minute) make him a theme cake. They came up with this idea and all the props in about 4 minutes flat. They even climbed a tree and clipped down a branch to make the logs and the tree.

It did turn out cute, and he got a kick out of it!
We love you, Daddy/Matt!!!!
