Creative Writing
So, Pastor Mark also thought it would be a good idea to sign up as the host school for the ACSI Creative Writing Festival. For 3 years!
This contest is individual, so each student writes something, and then makes 3 copies of it and sends ME the whole packet. Then I sort the entries and send them off to judges from other schools to evaluate them. When the judging is done, each entry is returned to me and then I resort them all and record the three scores and average them and then determine the place each entry has earned. Any Superior entry get sent on to the next level of competition.
It was a lot of work, but not really HARD. I did enjoy it (mostly!)
ACSI sent me 2 boxes of ribbons, so I was able to send appropriate colored ribbons back to the schools, with the entriies after they were judged and tabulated.
Anyhow - our school had 4 Superior entries. I was proud of our kids! One of the 11th grades had 2 entries, and both of his are going on, a 4th grader (Gavin!) had a poem that went on, and my Shelby was the other Superior! Yeah!

The Sun
O Sun, you burn so bright,
You are the most brilliant light.
You dance on children's faces,
Leaving sunburned traces.
You are a wonder to all people.
You have climbed the highest steeple.
You are made of liquid gold,
A fire no one can hold.
God made the usn,
Just as He made us each, everyone.
