There are several trees that are dying, so we decided to take them down, one at a time, until we ran out of energy.
They are so ugly! I was happy when Matt brought the chain saw home, even though I knew it would be a LOT of work.
My cutie tree cutter. <3
Tree #1 on its way DOWN!
There it goes!
And it is down. Timber!
So then, we hooked the tree up to the 4 wheeler and drug it to the edge of the woods.
With that done, we started in on #2!
There it is. Once again, we hooked it to the 4 wheeler and drug it down to the woods too. It certainly made quick work of the clean up!
It looks nice and open now - but the other row is still there to block the yard from the road. And sitting in the hammock is still private!
With 2 trees down, the sun was alomst up over the ridge, so we decided to do just one more. The branches were so thick at the bottom that we (Matt) had to cut them out so he could get to the truck to cut it down.
I hate picking up sticks! However, with the 4 wheeler doing so much of the work, I really didnt have much to do.
Shelby ran the camera while tree #3 timbered down....
And with that, tree #3 is on the ground! Matt runs the chain saw like it was a knife through butter. When I grabbed it to help carry it back to the shed, I realized just how heavy it was! When we were done with that last tree, the sun was HOT and we awere ready for a break. Plus, pushing 3 trees into the woods was lots of work, and we also ran out of "easy" room to put them. So, for now, we are done.
And then we looked and saw that HUGE bee nest. Luckily we did not disturb them!
This girl loves her frappucinos! She is infamous for sneaking them into her snack when she was in Kindergarten!
And this is blurry - but you can see the smile on her face. Its a whoopee cushion!
A webkinz from Shelby.
This is the lava lamp that she wanted.
She also wanted a gun of any kind. So, we got her an airsoft pistol. (Turns out it wasnt a good choice - she'll be getting a better one soon....) Nathan and Jill sent her an awesome target to go with it.
Wii resort. They have really enjoyed this one! They played it at a couple of different friends homes, and decided that it was exactly what she wanted.
We decided one of the last days before school started to take a ride to the swinging bridge. It was a perfect day for a ride, and it is so pretty and peaceful there.
The bridge. Shelby likes to take the camera and I never know what will show up. They say you can bike across the bridge, but it is about all I can do to walk across!
I like how this tree grows on the rocks.
When we left the bridge to head back, we saw a bald eagle. It was awesome! He was sitting on the river bank on the side where the trail is. We startled him into flight, and he was soaring above the river. The trail was a little higher than he was, so we had an amazing view of him. He was magnificent!
Oops - shoulda pulled the weeds before taking the picture! I took Colesy with me when we got the seeds and plants for the garden. She adores watermelon, so she asked if we could pleeeeease try planting one this year.
They never got really big, and it is hard to tell when to pick them (I'm no expert anyhow!).
