Bike Ride

We decided one of the last days before school started to take a ride to the swinging bridge. It was a perfect day for a ride, and it is so pretty and peaceful there.

The bridge. Shelby likes to take the camera and I never know what will show up. They say you can bike across the bridge, but it is about all I can do to walk across!

I like how this tree grows on the rocks.

When we left the bridge to head back, we saw a bald eagle. It was awesome! He was sitting on the river bank on the side where the trail is. We startled him into flight, and he was soaring above the river. The trail was a little higher than he was, so we had an amazing view of him. He was magnificent!

Wallermelon in our garden

Oops - shoulda pulled the weeds before taking the picture! I took Colesy with me when we got the seeds and plants for the garden. She adores watermelon, so she asked if we could pleeeeease try planting one this year.

They never got really big, and it is hard to tell when to pick them (I'm no expert anyhow!).

But Colesy sure liked them! :)

Sisters. (I found this one when I downloaded my camera.)

Matts new tool box. This kept him happy in the shed for a whole day! :)

Can you see the odometer? 55555

Colesy and her dog.

What a face! Silly girl!

Tudi

This just might explain why the girls love you so much, Tudi!

Tud is the girls favorite 'baby' sitter. And she just fits in so well! ha ha

First day of school -2011/2012

Colesy ready to start grade 5!

Shelby ready to tackle grade 6!

Montgomery: the (rotten) egg

Mama Robin bringing worms to her babies.

Standing watch...

The babies right before they left the nest.

Montgomery was left behind. :(

Very cool looking, with the brown splotches on the blue, but also.... very rotten!

So, after a while, we decided to inspect Montgomery a little closer.

We got a little rock and cracked him open.

I'm not sure what I was expecting, but I thought perhaps there would be a little more bird and a little less egg, but not the case.

He did, however, have a true rotten egg smell...... Yikes!

Slinky

Slinky is the name the girls gave to the kitty who has been coming around lately.

Such a skinny little guy, but so lovey.

Can you tell we are used to having a dog? However, Slinky does follow them around.

Such a sweety.

He's a talker. :)
