This morning...

This is the conversation I heard while laying in my bed this morning.

Shelby got up and went to the bathroom and went back to bed, and said:

Sh: Colesy?
C: Hmmmm
Sh: are you awake?
C: Well, I am now.
Pause
Sh: Are you asleep?
C: Sorta
Sh: Oh
Pause
Sh: Wanna talk a bit?
C: Not really
Pause
Pause
Pause
Sh: Now do you wanna talk?
C: Ummmm

Memorial Day Monday

Here we are starting our ride (this is about 4 miles past start!)
We had a beautiful day for a ride!
Our goal was the swinging bridge!  We made it and had a fun time playing beside the river.

Here is Daddy helping Colesy into the tree.
Here is a RARE smile with teeth (or lack of teeth!) showing.
Me and my girls!
Shelby's turn in the tree.
Isn't she cute!?

Shelby found a stick with fishing string attached. It was quite a find.

Us
She had a fun time "fishing".
Exploring.

Here they are on the bridge.

This is about mile 13 or so.
I think this one was about mile 14!
We went 16 total.
Its hard to sit today! :)

Jack Douglas Hurley

So, we took the camera and left it in the truck while we were at the hospital meeting Jack!  I'm a little silly...

Anyhow, Jack was born Sunday morning, May 24th at 2:21 AM.
7 pounds, 14 ounces, 19 inches long, 2 weeks early.

He is so tiny and smells so much like a newborn baby. So so sweet.  We all got a chance to hold him, and we all love him.

Val is doing good too. She did a great job!  She got to the hospital just after midnight and had him just 2 hours later.  I'll try to steal a picture from someone as soon as I can and put it on here!

(Oh - Douglas is Jer's dads name, and so Jack has the same initials as his daddy.)

Pittsburgh

We went to Pittsburgh on Sunday to meet our new nephew/cousin.  Colesy was very quiet on the way home!
She did wake right up when we stopped - Daddy thought that a stop at Buff's would be a good way to end the day.   Shelby got strawberry and Colesy got chocolate.  Arent they cute?!

Party night

Shelby wanted to grill pizzas and have a fire, so we finally got to do it last night.  The pizzas turned out super yummy and the fire was nice.  Grammy brought her presents for Shelby and she got to open them by the fire.

Isn't this the cutest little outfit?

Hot ride!!!

Grammy and Papa came over tonight.  Papa took them each for a ride. They liked it!

Saturday morning chores

They like to help Matt wash the bike!

More party pictures

This present was from daddy.  She was excited before she even opened it cuz it was from Daddy.  She said even Christmas presents are from both of you, I'm happy to get one just from dad.
Her she is getting it opened.
Holy Smokes! It's a guitar!!!!!!

She sat down and started practicing right away.

Garden 2009

We decided to plant a garden this year.  We didnt like the little raised garden that we put in a few years ago, plus, the timbers around it were rotting.  So, we (Matt) pulled them out and rototilled the area and then borrowed a thing to hook to the tractor to level it out.  Then, us girls started the seeds in little pods and when Matt said ready, we took them out and planted them.  Matt took Friday off, and got the stuff to put up a fence.  He also put stuff up around the new blueberry bushes.  A bunny has been snacking on them, and we're not sure that they will make it.  Heres hoping! Anyhow, he got the fence around the garden before the bunny found it, so that will save us (him) many sleepless nights! :)

Shelby and the Surgery

So, to continue the story of Shelby and her ears.....
We had the appointment at Roscoes this morning at 11.  We got there in time! and didnt have to wait long to get in.  They did a pressure test of some sort - I'm still not up on my ear terms.
Renee (the PA) looked at her and said, she thought her ears had looked worse, but they were still bad, and yes, she wanted Roscoe to look at them over at the hospital.  So, we get paperwork of all kinds, and I begin to see that something is happening,
so i ask "what is going on?"
her: OH, she's getting tubes.
me:what does that mean.  The most I know about tubes is they go in your ear and my brother had them lots.
her: well, it is a very simple procedure, it only takes about 5 minutes to complete.
me: how do they put them in?
her: they put her out.
me: OUT!?
And now it is time to go.  So, we get to the hospital, and I am beginning to understand why she wasnt allowed to eat breakfast this morning.  We get to the hospital and Get a gown and a bed in short stay, and I ask her if she wants me to sit on the bed with her or in the chair.  She wants me in the bed, so we snuggle together in the bed watching tv while the clock slowly ticks by.
FINALLY, they come to get her, and as they are rolling her bed out of the room, my bestest mother in law appears! I was SO relieved to not have to wait alone in the waiting room.  and Roscoe came and said it would take him 3 minutes to do.  Well, when she had her tonsils out, she did NOT like the gas, and they had a hard time getting her to sleep.  She told me she was already tired, so it shouldnt be as bad! Silly girl.  From the time they took her, to the time she was back in her room, was ONE HOUR!!!!!
Anyhow, she had a slow recovery.  She finaly got a ride in  a wheel chair down to the car, and slept the whole way home, and this is where she has been ever since:

Even when daddy got home and said hi to her, she fell asleep after a 10 second conversation.  Poor little girl.
Her only good news is that she gets a day with Grammy tomorrow.
well, that, and hopefully this will help her feel better.... :)
