a little walk down memory lane.....

Shelby style.....

And Colesy style.......

Christmas Vaca Silliness

A little bit of wii with Gavin (pictured) and Gabe (not pictured) on a day we did not expect to have guests, but ended up having a blast with!
The girls and Damien snuggled up to watch some TV.

Arent they just cute?!

I came downstairs after trying to sleep in a tad one morning and found these two snuggled up together. Of their own accord! Christmas miracles are still happening! :)

Shelby, me and Colesy

and Damien! Dont you love Colesy's smile?! HA HA HA

I promise, I'm not on drugs. Of any kind.....

I didnt realize at the time that this would be the last time to use this camera. Thankfully, we were able to say goodbye! Matt, my wonderful husband, heard me complain time after time after time and got me a new one for Christmas!

Hi Damien!

More Colsey

Here is the bruise from giving the 5 vials of blood! Poor baby...

And apparently, if your spleen is giving you pain, confining yourself to a small environment makes you feel better.

She stayed in the laundry basket for probably 45 minutes after we got home.

Colesy

Yesterday morning, as we were getting ready to leave for school, I had to run back upstairs to grab something. I assumed when I came back down that the girls would be ready, getting coats on and packing up the back packs. However, I only saw Shelby. Which is unusual. Usually, Colesy is waiting for the 2 of us! I asked Shelby where Colesy was and she pointed to the floor. Huh?! Sure enough, she was laying on the floor and said her side hurt. Her left side. I told her she'd be fine and to get up and get going.

Upon arriving at school, the girls did their usual thing, playing on the computer until time to go to class. And it being Monday, things were busy in the office. Shortly after the bell rang, my intercom rang. It was one of Becky's boys sayinf that I needed to come down stairs right away. So, I hung up and said "that is odd!" And looked up and Colesy's best friend was at the counter and said "Krissy, you need to come downstairs right now" So, I said fine, and off we went. Partway down the hall, I said to Erin that I thought I needed to hold her hand. She was sweet and let me! :)

I walked into the classroom and saw Colesy sitting on her teachers lap.

Here is what happened.....
Colesy went back to Mrs. Bundy's desk to tell her that she didnt feel good and she wanted to come up to see me. She also told Mrs. Bundy that she was really hot. Mrs. Bundy felt her head and said "you aren't hot, your cold". At which point, Colesy passed out. (Mrs. Bundy caught her on the way down.) And that is when Mrs. Bundy told Erin to run to the office for me, and Gavin to call the office for me!
When Colesy came to, Mrs. Bundy told her to say something and she responded with "I dont know what to say" so Mrs. Bundy told her to count to 10. She was able to do it, but it was really slow.
I carried her up to the office and she was clam-y for another 30 minutes or so. I called the Dr and they wanted to see her. So, we pack up and head out to the appointment. We get to the Dr office and we go back to the room and the nurse came in and did her stats and vitals and all that and says that the dr will be in. so, Colesy is sitting on my lap, and its taking a while for the doctor to come in. Then Colesy says to me "I'm starting to feel like I did before." Sure enough, she is clam-y and pale again. I set her in the chair and lean her head back against the wall and ran out to find the nurse. We all rushed back in, me and 2 nurses, and I scooped her up and put her on the bed and the nurse put a wet cloth on her head. She never went completely out, but she was WHITE for another 10-15 minutes.
They buzzed all around her and did a glucose test and all sorts of things. Everything was within normal range. It was then decided to send her to the hospital for further tests: blood work and an abdominal ultrasound.
I got to watch the screen while the ultrasound was taking place. The tech took pictures of her spleen and kidney.
The results: enlarged spleen. Blood tests all came back negative, except for mono. That one takes longer.
She was quiet, but fine for the rest of the day.
The nurse who called with the results said she could go to school, but to be careful of the left side where the spleen is. Dont get slammed into during recess, etc.
Hopefully we'll know the rest later today, and hopefully I will be able to ask intelligent questions!

Snowballs and Sleds

Last week, we got some snow. Not lots, but the girls decided to go out and play. They eventually came in asking for help. They must have forgotten who their mama is, cuz I hate snow, but they had made a snow ball and were trying to get it into the front yard. But it was too heavy to push up the bank from the driveway. So, it eventually got away from them and rolled to a stop near the basement door. Where it sat for a week. It was big. Probably 2 feet in diameter.
Well, Matt decided that it needed to move, so when he got home yesterday, he rolled it out of the way, and never stopped! It rolled a curvy path down to the edge of the bank where it came to a stop. He came in the house laughing about it, so we were watching out the window for the girls to discover that it had "mysteriously" moved.
Oh my! Matt and I laughed and laughed. I tried to get a picture, but, shockingly, I have stupid camera issues! Once again they tried to get the snowball, now bigger, back up the bank. They got their sled, and got the snowball onto it. And they were pulling the sled. Colesy pulling and Shelby behind pushing. It was comical. They dissappeared from view for a while.
We finally found them again. Seems the snowball had rolled off the sled and went down to the creek bank again, down by the trampoline. Thye sturggled and struggled. Meanwhile, Matt and I are cracking up!
Eventually, they came in for lunch (creamy tortolini soup!). We asked them where the snow ball was. They got frustrated with it and put it in the creek!
Oh, pictures or video would have been hysterical. Oh well.

Fun at Grammy's

They cut and glued pictures from magazines. Things they liked, or fit their personalities. They had a grand time! See the big peanut on Colesys paper? :)
Shelby working on hers.

Tada.... I see soccer and chocolate! And she made her name from different letters cut out of the magazines.

Goin on a tree hunt

Matt and the girls at the 'head of the trail"
We literally had to go "over the river and through the woods" to find a tree. It was fun - and pretty cold too!
This is Colesy's pick.

And Shelby's.

The tops of the little trees covered with snow made cute little stars.

Here is Matt cutting down the tree. Okay, there was a guy there to cut for us. How about that?!

And he even drug it to the car for us. Off we go.
Every year, we try hard to not get a tree that is too big. We dont usually do so good! One year, we could barely get it in the back of the truck. Yikes! So this year, we tried really hard to find one that was big, but not too big.
We errored on the smaller side this year, but she was easy to reach the top and well, it is what it is. She is pretty, huh? Maybe someday I'll put the finished, decorated, picture on here too. We'll see.

Christmas Concert

So, the school Christmas Concert had to be December 2. We had some scheduling conflicts, so it was the best/only time we could have it. It's always hard, run home, eat dinner, get beautiful, run back out the door.
And when we walked in the door, I realized I had not lined anyone up to hand out programs. Good thing I'm flexible! :)
Grammy took the annual after program family photo. Yuck, glasses.
Forgot about them until I saw the picture. Not sure what that means!
My 3 muskateers. Shelby, Erin and Colesy

Silly smiles, but you get what you get, and you dont throw a fit. (Can you tell I work at a school!)

They do like each other. Not that this is really proof.....

Big 'ole logs

Matt took the camera with him a few weeks ago when he went for logs. This batch was enormous!
Okay, so here in the log truck loading himself. They are built and set up to be able to do this.

This log is too big. He cant pick it up by himself, so the logger in the skidder is helping to push it up onto the truck.

Still working at it. Can you see the log on Matt's trailer in the background? It is huge!

Finally almost have it on there!

recent convos

Shelby on the phone talking to Grammy:
Did you getyour Christmas tree?
oh, how tall is it?
Really?! That is taller than Goliath!

Its deer season here in PA. Lots of deer have been killed with disease. So, you call the Game Commission to report it. Then the take your deer. If you got a buck, too bad, they take it. Antlers and all. We (Matt and me) were talking about this on the way home the other day. Becky's brother shot a 9 point, but ti was sick. Heres the kicker. Call the commission, and they take your deer, but you can BUY BACK the antlers at $10 a point! Ridiculous! Anyhow, Colesy pipes up from the back that it would cost him $90. I saw the teaching moment to show how math and mulitplication really do have a place in our world. I asked her how she came up with that number. (9 X $10) She thought for about 5 seconds and said "I've got smarticles."
LOL
