Anyhow, I got a reminder phone call last week reminding me that Shelby had her 6 month allergy re-evaluation that Friday. So, we went. (good thing they called!) Well, she had fluid in both her ears. and her allergies would be listed as severe. so, we got 2 scripts for her - a steroid and an antihistamine. Well, she has complained about her ears since that appointment (maybe longer - I don't remember). Today at school, she came up to me in the office and said it really hurt her. I talked to her teacher, and she said that while they were in the middle of a spelling test, Shelby grabbed her ear and grimaced. (she even got a 100% on the test!)
So, it being Thursday, Dr. Devlin's office is closed, so I took advantage of the family relationship and called Aunt Diane and explained everything to her and she said she would talk to Jim and call me back. So, the phone rings, and she says that Jim said that since Roscoe was treating her right now (we're still in the middle of the meds he prescribed) that HE was the one who needed to take care of her. So, I called Roscoe and explained it all to the girl who answered the phone. She said that the nurse would have to look things over and call me back.....
So, they called back after talking to the nurse, and Roscoe. I'm not familiar with ear terms and stuff, but they want to see her on Monday and will do something, maybe a pressure test? or just look in there, or something. And then she said that after that, they would send us to the hospital - that is where Roscoe is on Mondays - and he would do something to her there. What? I'm not sure, but I said Monday is a long time from today, when she is hurting. what do I do??? They said to manage her pain with Advil.
So, we're armed with Advil, and we're off to the school Spring Concert, and I'm sure a long weekend awaits.
Oh, and by the way, her appointment is at 11, and DO NOT let her eat breakfast! Sure.......
