Hit & Miss

Matt and Dad worked on the hit and miss engine one afternoon. They got the engine mounted to the custom made frame, and they also attatched the axle and steel wheels as well. By the end of the evening, Uncle Charlie stopped by and they got the thing fired up. :)

Gods Canvas

We woke up to this the other morning. They sky was a funny color, so I went out to investigate, and WOW! It didnt rain a drop on us, but God's promise was beautiful.

Shelby took this one. It was dang hot for a week, but the sun coming up one morning was just beautiful.

Pictures are NEVER as good as the real deal, but God provided a gorgeous sunset for us one evening last week. It was magnificent.

Shooting the BB gun

Matt got the BB gun out the other day for the girls. They had a blast shooting at a box and 2 cans.

They did quite well, actually. Colesy was struggling at first, and not able to hit the target at all. Matt KNEW something wasnt right, but couldnt figure out what she was doing wrong. He told her to go get her glasses. She did, but still was having bad luck. Then Matt realized that she is right handed and was trying to use her left eye to line up the thingybobs and clearly it was not working! So, after he told her to use her right eye, she never missed!

Her she is pumping it up. Harder than Daddy makes it look, for sure!

Front yard discovery

We were eating at the picnic table on the porch one evening and we watched a bird fly into one of the bushes we have near the road. Upon closer inspection, a nest with eggs was discovered. They were so pretty. Not plain like a robin lays.

Quite soon after that, we watched mama arriving with worms, so we new the eggs must have hatched.

While they made the nest close to the road, it was in a difficult spot for us to get to. Occassionally, one of the girls would venture up to get a picture.

After this one was taken, we went a few days without checking on their status. When we did decide that we needed to check because they were probably getting ready to leave, we accidentally scared them and they all left the nest. Oops! :)

Green Hair

The girls received Claires gift cards in their Easter baskets this year. We finally took a HOT day to spend at the mall, and this is what Shelby picked. Green hair extensions!

Complete with a self portrait.

OUCH!!!!!

I was helping Matt in the yard with one of his projects and it did not go well for my big toe! I bent the nail back about halfway. And I'll just tell you: YES! It hurt!

About one day after it stopped hurting to be touched, I was again out helping Matt and he asked me to run in the house to make a phone call for him. Well, being the helpful person that I am, I literally took off running to get to the house to make his call. My problem began when I missed the bottom step. My toes just barely glanced off the edge, and the rest of me went full tilt onto the steps. I ripped up both shins pretty good. that was July 1. today is July 27. my scab is just about gone, and, well, there are still significant bumps on my shin bones. And again, let me reassure you that YES! it hurt. immensly. I believe I rolled around on the porch with tears streaming from my eyes chanting "it hurts, it hurts, oh how it hurts"

Not sure when this was, exactly, but we were gone for a while and when we got back, Big D just wanted to snuggle.
