Colesy is 9!!

Well, first, Erin spent the night. We picked her up about 3 PM and the girls spent the afternoon/evening playing like girls do..... It was fun to listen to them.

In the morning - the day of the birthday - we got up and had breakfast and then loaded in the car.

Our first stop on the Birthday Adventure was Beartown Rocks. Colesy loves this place!

It was not a warm August day. It was cool. In fact, it was sprinkling/raining as we were driving, so upon the suggestion by the girls, we went around the car and all prayed that the rain would stop so we could play. While the sun didnt exactly come out, the rain did hold off! Thank you Jesus!

The took a break in the back of the car. How cute is that?!

Surprisingly, Beartown Rocks has a lot of rocks. HUGE rocks. They climbed and had a blast and I was nervous as anything. I think all I said was "Be careful!" With the light rain, things were slippery-er than usual. But, they were safe and I was fine and we had a nice time.

We took a small hike down a trail as well. We found the most unusual mushroom along the path. I tried several times to take a picture, but.... It was purple and shiny. It looked wet. It was very interesting. We also saw a bright orange mushroom. I didnt take a picture of it. I dont really like mushrooms! :) But they were pretty, and fun to find, on a somewhat gloomy day.

Next stop was the Farmers Inn. We havent been all summer, so this was a treat for all of us. And we had a really marvelous time here.

Even though it was cold, we made sure we had ice cream cones before we left!

Arent they sweet? I think they knew we had apple slices....

This Fennec Fox was just so cute! Full grown they are 3-4 pounds.

This ginormous turtle was fun to watch. We came by later, and he was eating an ear of corn. He was very messy and with each bite we got to see his tougue poke out.

Colesy feeding a tiny goat some apple.

This lady was very kind and helpful. She was feeding some of the animals and she let the girls pet the baby chinchilla. Hard to see it there with all the hands, but it was a highlight of the visit!

She also helped us to not be afraid of the emu. He is a fairly freaky looking bird. Much smaller than an ostrich, but very prehistoric looking. We were trying to feed him apple slices, but he was getting pretty close to us! Yikes! She walked up and started stroking his neck, and he just leaned into her and went to sleep. Hard to be afraid of a sleeping emu! We all petted him. But after she left, we didnt try it on our own! :)

Farmers Inn has some animals that have been hurt and they take care of them. Or they are old or whatever. This bear was old and arthritic. He just laid there. He was BIG!
The goats are always fun! They cracked us up!
There were twin baby black bears that were about 6 months old. They were so much fun to watch. They played and played.

Next stop: GRAMMY'S HOUSE!

The girls swam for about an hour and a half and then Grammy made a treasure hunt...
She made the cutest rhymes in the clues and the girls had a fun time running around trying to figure them out.
Treasures for all 3 girls at the end! Zhu Zhu pets! Yippeeeee!!!!!!!

And then it was time to open presents!
She got what she wanted! Barbie and Barbie stuff!
We had a brownie with whipped cream on top and then we ran home, grabbed Erins sutff and Matt got a shower and we were back out the door. The staff had a picnic out at the lake, so that was dinner. And everyone sang Happy Birthday to Colesy. She turned red! :)

And then we fell into bed.
